Women’s Health & Wellness
The community has a lot of girls that dropped out of elementary school for a myriad of reasons such as: lack of school fees, deficient feminine supplies, inadequate learning materials, teen pregnancies, lack of support from illiterate by parents, having to walk long distances to and from schools, and other reasons. Some of these girls are as young as 11 years old. With their fate seemingly sealed, our program has reached out to these girls, allowing them to take some of our books to them at home. The girls and the parents have become equally excited at the site of our arrival. Reading has created an opportunity for them to have the confidence again and to ignite the fire of knowledge in them. Their infant children are also introduced to reading at a very early age. The goal is to create vocational programs that some of the girls that are 18 and above can learn skills that will help them to be independent.

Reaching out to girls who have already dropped out of school (amount: 50 girls)
The community has a lot of girls that dropped out of elementary school for a myriad of reasons such as: lack of school fees, deficient feminine supplies, inadequate learning materials, teen pregnancies, lack of support from illiterate by parents, having to walk long distances to and from schools, and other reasons. Some of these girls are as young as 11 years old. Our program has reached out to many girls subject to these unfortunate circumstances, and has began into taking books to them. The program has reignited their excitement in academics again. The parents of these young girls, (most of whom were forced to drop out at a young age also) have a renewed value in the prospect of education after witnessing the growth of their young girls’ literacy skills. The ultimate goal is for the girls to go back to school otherwise they will end up as teen mothers or as child brides.
